Why This Measure Matters

Participation in arts events, programs and classes indicate a culture of community engagement and a helpful measure of success for programs and events.

What’s the Story?

  • This metric consists of engagement touchpoints including program and event participation, numbers of applications, online connections – any opportunity where a member of the public has made a connection to arts offered through Parks, Arts & Recreation.
  • Ongoing strategies towards maximizing participation include providing a variety of ways for artists and the community to connect with the arts, at a level that is most accessible to them. These include free and fee-based programs, in person and online opportunities, juried and voting public art selection processes, and classes and professional opportunities, targeting a wide range of interests and needs.
  • New ways to track event attendance continue to provide better understanding of the scope of those activities. As Arts Walk returns to our pre-pandemic numbers, so does our attendance with 69,171 combined participants at Arts Walk spring and fall 2025, with 33,423 unique visitors to the Arts Walk website.
