Why This Measure Matters

Reducing our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from City owned vehicles, we help reduce adverse effects to our environment and improve air quality.

What’s the Story?

• In 2025, we have transitioned 22% of our light-duty vehicles to EV.
• We have reduced GHG emissions by almost 50%, exceeding our goal of a 45% reduction from 2019 levels by 2030.
• The City has purchased 24 electric vehicles which have helped impact the reduction of GHG in the last two years.
• Starting January 2024, the City transitioned to renewable diesel,  reducing GHG emissions by approximately 75% in diesel-powered equipment.
• We strategically purchase fuel-efficient or low emission vehicles when we add or replace vehicles in our fleet.
• From 2021-2023, the City added 9 electric vehicles to the fleet which contributed to a 15% reduction in GHG emissions in 2023
• In 2019 we began an anti-idling campaign, which resulted in operators becoming more conscious of reducing idle times of city vehicles.
