What’s the Story?

• The Clean Team removes trash, large items, sharps (needles, syringes, etc.), biohazards, stickers and graffiti in Downtown Olympia.
• Due to increased staffing levels, we saw an increase in the amount of trash picked up in 2020. The number of trash bags removed by the Clean Team has since remained steady over the past few years.
• We use this data to determine adequate staffing levels and program resource needs.
• We aim to see a reduction in trash collected as we maintain a clean and safe Downtown. However, we recognize that several factors impact the amount of waste generated, such as special events, increased activity in Downtown and a growing population.
