Why This Measure Matters

Monitoring the longevity of employees within our organization allows us to determine which area, or areas, the city can continue to improve upon to be a top agency that employees want to work for. 

What’s the Story?

In 2023, the city implemented our new Workday software and a result 2024 is the first year of full data to use as a comparison. The organization as a whole saw a slight shift down in longevity from 2024 to 2025 and this decrease aligns with some routine staffing changes, such as retirements, as well as recent workforce reductions.

Target

The city continues to track longevity and set goals according to industry trends. The city's current goal is an average of 10 years of service, based on national industry standards.
