Parks, Arts, and Recreation
Games Annually Scheduled on City Fields
On Track
Why This Measure Matters
The Community Facilities program is responsible for the scheduling of ballfields that helps promote active lifestyles and support community wellness. Parks Maintenance is responsible for all field maintenance and prep work that ensures safe and well groomed athletic fields for all scheduled play.
What’s the Story?
- Parks staff provide game ready city fields at LBA Park, Stevens Field and Yauger Park for numerous youth and adult sports organizations including baseball, fastpitch, slowpitch and soccer groups.
- High quality facilities, including safety, are vital for the growth of sports leagues and tournaments in our community.
- Park improvement projects, land acquisition and development also play an important role in the process.
- Youth baseball leagues have had consecutive years of reduced participation while league organizers adjust to changing leadership.
- Department policy changes in 2025 should encourage, at the least, a modest increase in games scheduled. The goal of 1,842 games was exceeded in 2025.
Target
2,176 games for 2026.
