Why This Measure Matters

Reservation hours drive our revenue and inform us if the community feels they have affordable, safe and clean facility options for use.

What’s the Story?

  • Key funding sources in Facility Operations include The Olympia Center room reservations including the Harbor House, Oly on Ice, boating moorage, general leases and other contributions or grants.
  • The Olympia Center and Harbor House constitute about 27% of Facility revenue, the Seasonal Ice Rink is responsible for 26%, Athletic Field reservations bring in around 24% and Park Shelter Rentals account for 10%. Smaller revenues are made up by moorage, sanican reimbursements, community gardens, advertising and administrative fees.
  • Significant community service partner includes Senior Services for South Sound, a tenant at The Olympia Center.
  • Oly on Ice, our temporary seasonal ice rink in downtown Olympia, opened in 2018 and averages over 20,000 skaters annually during the nearly two month season. The 2025-26 season established at new attendance record of 21, 648.
  • Annual target is to meet or exceed previous year’s hours.
