Number of Large Items Removed by Clean Team

Why This Measure Matters
The removal of large, abandoned items is essential to maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment in the city.
What’s the Story?
- The Clean Team responds to requests to remove large items abandoned in public spaces.
- Since 2021, we have observed a downward trend in the number of larger items being removed. We attribute this success to our team's shift from a reactive to a proactive approach. By removing larger items quickly and efficiently, we have been able to prevent debris build up.
- We use this data to determine adequate staffing levels and program resource needs.
- Our goal is to reduce the volume of large items collected by the Clean Team while maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment. However, we do not set a specific reduction target, as the number of large items found in public spaces is unpredictable.
